About Boo and Boo Factory
Boo and Boo Factory was founded by me, Christina Anton, as a way to create unique leather jewelry that you just can't find anywhere else. The forms, shapes, colors and patterns are all inspired by my training in architecture. All pieces are handmade from my Chicago studio with love and attention to detail. I specialize in statement necklaces, bold neon earrings and bright color bracelets which combine techniques ranging from hand painted, hand cut, beaded and woven materials.I am always exploring and expressing myself through many disciplines. I love mixing patterns, prints, color and form. You can see the influence of science, nature and digital architecture in my work.
I graduated with an architecture degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago where I learned many computer and fabrication techniques that have greatly influenced my work.
I have been an architectural designer since 2006, working in various architecture firms in Chicago, New York and Los Angeles. After recently graduating with a master degree from the Southern California Institute of Architecture, where I gained a penchant for color and texture, as well as advanced computer modeling, animation and cutting edge fabrication techniques ranging from laser cut, CNC and 3d printing, I discovered I had a love of small object design. This inspired me to take my growing jewelry design business and pursue it full time.
Handmade with Love
Each piece is hand cut, hand painted and assembled one by one in my Chicago studio. The jewelry is created with my careful selection of colorful and unusual leather collection. I take special care in the materials I choose and that they are ethically sourced. The materials I use incorporate mixed media materials such as patterned leather, lambskin, cow hide, brass findings, turquoise, silicone tubing and vintage glass beads.Every necklace, earring, ring and bracelet is meticulously hand cut with care and precision. My focus and attention to detail, pattern, shape and texture is what makes the jewelry truly unique and one of a kind.
The process of creating is truly therapeutic for me. I sit at my desk, look for inspiration with my own photography, and lay out different color combinations of leather and various supplies. I could have anywhere close to 100 individual colors and the fun is combining them in unusual or unexpected ways.
I usually never know what the end product will be, but that is what helps keep my ideas fresh and my creativity flowing. I'll make different shaped cut outs, create different color palettes and cut several types of fringes and mix and match until I find the right fit.
